Footgel Camino de Santiago insoles are designed to provide cushioning and distribute load better on long routes, uneven terrain and hikes with a backpack. Studies show that carrying weight increases plantar pressure and that softer materials can help reduce it, especially in areas such as the heel and forefoot.
Less pressure when walking with a backpack
In a study with 20 healthy adults, a cushioned insole reduced plantar pressures while walking, both unloaded and while carrying a backpack. The softer insole performed better in certain areas than a stiffer solution.

Fifteen athletes walked uphill carrying a 25 kg backpack. Soft, cushioned insoles significantly reduced peak pressure in certain areas of the heel and the fifth metatarsal compared with a flat insole.
